ASBM was established in 2006 on a green campus near the Chandaka Wildlife Sanctuary in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and was built in a record 180 days.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Vice President Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Governor Shri Rameshwar Thakur and Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik. On 26 September 2019, the Government of Odisha granted university status through the ASBM University, Odisha Act, 2019.

Prof. (Dr.) Biswajeet Pattanayak
An internationally known Human Resource Management expert.
He became a full Professor at an IIM at the age of 35, and later directed the Reserve Bank of India-run Indian Institute of Bank Management at 37. He founded ASBM in 2006 and serves as Chancellor and President of ASBM University.
